Looking at the returners from last year's 3200 at States, it should be a great season for distance events on the track. Look at the fast times posted by sophomores (and freshman) last June:

5 Dan Lennon 11 Peru-2 9:09.37
6 Thomas Awad 11 Chaminade-1 9:09.83
10 Nick Ryan 10 Fay.-Manlius-1 9:11.86
12 Mark Violone 11 Byram Hills 9:15.25
16 Kris Moran 10 North Babylon-1 9:20.88
17 Ryan Manahan 10 Marcellus-2 9:22.35
18 Thomas Hornberger 9 Lake Shore-1 9:22.39
19 Jason Lange 10 Notre Dame-BG-2 9:22.87
21 Mitchell Kun 11 Sheepshead Bay-1 9:25.23
22 Ian Tolan 11 Binghamton-1 9:25.45
24 Conor Gordon 10 Franklin Academy-1 9:28.09

Some guys have already stepped up huge from these performances - Lennon, Awad, Moran, Kun... and Hanson and Holt are other sophs from last year who've thrown down sub-9:10 performances indoors. Going to be good.

4. 4x4

To this list... add Kyle Gronostaj of Columbia. Doesn't have the same performance level at 3200 yet, but did have arguably the best freshman XC season in state history back in Fall 2010. He reportedly is healthy and planning to run outdoors this Spring.

Really good 4x1600 turned in by Arlington today. 17:26, winning by 15 seconds.

That includes a 4:12 by Sibby Hanson. He is a contender to win any event at states he chooses to run

Assuming he picks something longer than 800m, I totally agree.

Nick Ryan hammered Zavon Watkins at 1600m this afternoon, in the Sect 3 AA meet. 4:09.6, very impressive.
