What's up, Track Talk community! This is my first post here... so just wanted to first say congrats to Administrator and Zen Miler (as I've already told them personally) and it's good to see you Dyestat refugees found a home and the community did not die.
So anyway... I can't believe that more people don't collect track stuff and maybe they do and I just don't know it. But I have been trying to build up my collection. (it's not too expensive and a lot of fun)
I found this gem on eBay and just got it in the mail and am so excited. My wife doesn't understand the significance of the fact that it's one of Joe Newton's first state championships!!
Check it out...

Anyone else collect stuff like this? Old magazines, patches, autographs, Wheaties boxes, etc? Am I the only one??

I keep every race bib. I usually sign it with my race time, date, and signature. And I also keep all my old shoes. Mostly for the memories.

You mean the 1970 si issue that says "distance prodigy"? I want that one bad. Where did you get it? It is expensive on eBay!

I usually take something from every race I run. Usually, its a 'no parking on race day' sign, but sometimes its chute flags, signs from the expo, whatever- usually nothing too special since my aim isn't to be arrested. I also keep all my race numbers pinned to my wall. Hopefully one day I can wallpaper my room with them

Not to be a jerk, but you're the kids we race directors hate! I once spent $500 on printing signs at a meet and at the end of the day had ONE left. I was pissed. Seriously... Not to be a buzz kill but you should do that if they can be reused.

Did you run for York :O

No... lol... I did not run for York.
I think this topic has been drastically misunderstood. I just thought for sure there were other track & field nuts out there like me who collect track & field memoribilia. NOT personal stuff. But just like a baseball fan would collect cards or signed balls or whatever. Apparently I am sadly mistaken and I am the only weirdo who does this.
I've got a University of Colorado track & field patch from the late 1800s or early 1900s coming in any day now as well as some other old stuff. This goes along with my signed stuff by Jim Ryun, Allen Webb, Carl Lewis, and others.
I am certainly not old enough to have run for a 1968 York HS team lol... not by 30 years.

Yeah, I've done this once and it was worth it. If any of you have gone to Foot Locker, they have the chute flags all over the course. I ripped one of and hung it on my wall.
Also, I have the poster of Dathan Ritzenhein breaking the AR for 5000m, Meb K. winning New York Marathon, and Alberto Salazar winning the New York Marathon. I have posters of other runners like Brian Sell and an autographed picture of Dick Beardsley winning Grandma's Marathon. I also had the book "Dual In the Sun" autographed by him at the Grandma's Marathon Expo a couple weeks ago.

I have a ton of footlocker tape, but never got one of the flags.
I also have two Boston Indoor Games posters (one from this last year when they were giving them out, the other from 2007 when I took it off the wall at Reggie) and tickets from the five years I've gone. One year I got a picture taken with Alan Webb, too.
Pretty much every year my team runs train taking various signs and **** from D3 nationals, so I also have an "ncaa.com" banner.
