Nice. That's a solid time, especially considering how early it is.

4:09 is flying. also, and i dont exactly understand how texas works with advancing to regionals, but i've heard its only the top 3 make it to regionals, which if its true, a 4:18 not making it to regionals is pretty ridiculous. that is a stacked district.

Ya, it's only top 3 that advance to regionals and top 2 from regionals that advance to state.
It used to be worst, only top 2 from district went on to regionals. They changed it after 4:11 got 3rd one year in our district.
It's a sucky system for getting the top athletes to the state meet.

So there are no "automatic time qualifiers"?

Nope, no auto qualifiers.
Top 3 and you advance.
It's a brutal system, especially since the districts and regions aren't (and practically can't) be balanced.
Next year for the state meet they are introducing 1 extra spot so that 9 go to the state meet (top 2 from the 4 regions +1). That extra spot will go to the top time/performance by a 3rd place finisher at the region meet.

They should just have automatic time qualifiers. I would be interested to hear their rationale why not. Auto qualifiers worked great in MD, but that is a much smaller state...
