That's a helluva fast race.
Shrewd giving a bonus to the halfway leader, too.

Rob Novak is really running well. I hope he gets to give this the same time he lost in college under SHU regime. The butchered his career there, in my opinion with over racing and not nearly enough up the ladder stuff at 1500/ mile.
In the short time under Gags, he has improved mightily.

Very nice result for a guy who despite the way he was handled at SHU is thriving under Gags.
Just one question. Elevation change for road mile?

The USATF certification says no change. I assume since it is certified that it's legit.

USATF certification is only for distance not elevation.

Did not know that. Nevertheless, on the USATF website it does say "all flat."

Makes it that much more impressive.

Rob has run a very very good 3:40.x, this should not be that big a surprise, should it be?
I think he can go under 3:40.00 next year, maybe this if he could get in one more, like a dragged along Euro "B" race

Not a surprise to me. A big talent like him, under great coaching...a matter of time until big things.

if you look at the pictures on the website, it does NOT look like they're running on a flat course. it clearly looks downhill...

Those times seem very fast for a road mile; those are the types of times I would expect from Lagat, Lomong and Manzano.

Not quite true at all.
Big time road miles from 3:32 type guys have gone in under 3:50

Big time road miles have fallen by the wayside a bit...used to be a decent little circuit of them late summer into fall...some downhill, some not as much. Polish guy, Mikael Bartoszak specialized in these. Big one in Oklahoma, Cherry Street Mile was very downhill. Good money. Guy named Buck Jones from Seattle went about 6'5" and 135 pounds...ran 3:49 there to win once. Went sub 4 a few times on track, usually just under.
