Hopefully Gay will get better weather and can improve on the 9.78 world leader these two men share.

Can Carter's run of PRs continue?

Carter's improvement couldn't come at a better time for the Jamaicans and a worse time for the Americans. At this rate if Gay for any reason can't run the 100m final, Jamaica could sweep the 100 at the WCs next year.
With clean passes the Jamaican 4x1 is going sub 37 at either the WCs or OGs with little trouble. I have a hard time seeing any other outcome when they in an off year they have 6 guys under 10. Their top 4 this year are 9.78, 9.82, 9.82, 9.89.

Then again, this race also gives Gay the perfect opportunity to PR.

Frightening to think that the 9.82s listed above are potential 9.58s and 9.72s.

All about getting the stick around though and our 37.45 this year with a team that you wouldn't have thought could go that fast certainly proved that anything can happen.

PR to PR though, ouch are they scary.

So far I've been watching and there hasn't been too much of note, though the 100m race hasn't run yet.
Symmonds solid and smart in the 800 got the win in 1:45 over Ali in the last 50 meters. Good second effort just 72 hours after his 1:43.76 PB in Rieti.
Kenia Sinclair looked very good and won in 1:58.59 in the women's 800 with Uceny about a second back.
Cantwell uncorked a monster as I was typing 22.22 I think.
EDIT: If you want to catch the 100 http://veetle.com/index.php/channel/view#4c7e769e4059f

Amazing that 9.92 against a -.3 wind is now disappointing. No contest against Carter.

Ho hum.

1 Tyson Gay 9.92
2 Nesta Carter JAM 10.07
3 Mike Rodgers USA 10.14
4 Michael Frater JAM 10.17
5 Jaysuma Saidy Ndure NOR 10.21
6 Aaron Armstrong TRI 10.24
7 Mee Samuels USA 10.28
8 Monzavous Edwards USA 10.32

That's like 72' 10" for Cantwell. I guess Hoffa pissed him off.

Keep in mind it was something like 55 degrees in Zagreb.

Apparently there was contact between Gay and Carter during the race. Bumped hands or something:

"I expected a better time," he said, before admitting the collision was his fault. "I have to apologise to Nesta Carter."

"I kind of ran into his lane and bumped on him. That messed me up and him also, but it was my fault," he added.Gay added: "It was very cold but the cold weather did not affect my result.

It was also a pretty sloppy effort (with a sub-par first 20 meters as he said his blocks slipped), he crashed into Carter because he wasn't running a straight line(he was veering). It was pretty amazing how much he pulled away in the last 30 meters.
