Weather forecast looks favorable for a prestigious meet. A number of promising scenarios with a few of New York's finest programs attending.
What is going to be the best race of the day? I'm biased so I'll go with AA race for the boys. A few darkhorse B teams who seek a state title may go head to head with the impressive McQuaid squad. Will Burnt Hills stay here or move up? What Canadian will be in the front pack this year?

I'm not very good at predicting cc winners, so I figured this was a sure lock. I've never seen the glen filled with water yet since 1989. And really, how close of a forecast could any weatherperson get?

AA race seems very exciting with five top ranked A teams, Burnt Hills, Mcquaid, Pittsford Mendon, Vestal, and Pittsford Sutherland. throw in Marcellus, East Aurora and Wayne from Class B and it appears we'll have five or six teams within 30 points of each other fighting for third to eighth.
A and B squads all have runners who'll chase Otis, who will clearly be tuning up for the stretch run of November.
I'll post a video if I get good footage.

And Vestal so this is going to be a preview of what states could be like for A

are you saying Mcquaid has not been really wet since 1989?

I don't recollect a soaking year...Did I miss one? Perhaps a Jewish holiday if i wasn't there. And I believe it was dry when I ran collegiately.

1996--start to finish of ankle deep, thick mud and water. You couldn't avoid it (old Mcquaid site referenced it as the "mud bowl" or something like that). It was worse then NTN 2005 mudfest....this was an older version of the course so we didn't go under 390...it was 100% mud! Not many guys broke 17:00 in 1996. Some of my friends were covered head to toe in mud.
(ps--it was AWESOME!)

Otis wins the AA seeded race in 14:49. Burnt Hills over Walsh Jesuit for the team title... not sure if McQuaid ran their whole varsity.

Mike Sullivan did not run for McQuaid. The race's first mile was fast with Otis back with Kerr in top ten. He just seemingly cruised and looked fantastic. I think those two went through the mile in 4:58.
Team race was competitive for Class B schools and previews three of six or seven squads that will make B race a tightly contested race come November. Manahan of Marcellus was very impressive as a sophomore leading his team to a solid performance.
Pittsford Sutherland looked competitive with a solid pack in the A race to nip McQuaid.
Burnt Hills has a solid program top to bottom (top heavy with quality runners;) ).

Some of these seniors, like Cole, have really stepped up their performance. I am astounded at the 9th grader, Mickey Burke, and his efforts. The Burkes are a fine running family, and he is certainly showing their grit.

so yeah anyways my thoughts on a race i wasnt there for...
i talked to otis after and he said he felt really relaxed and was just rolling. i still cant see anyone in the state touching him but we also have to see how shaun thompson progresses after his injury. team wise burnt hills seemed to run really well, no the team they were last year but it always helps to have the fastest kid in a given race. class b is gonna be a nutso race in terms of teams at states. marcellus should move up to take the number 1 rank this week but maine endwell ran very well at tully this weekend coming within 3 points of a very strong AA team in cns so look out for them as well. i', lookin for wayne to improve by then as well they should be a contender. i still have to give the favorite status to my boys in mustang country though. they're running very well right now even with jesse not being at his best quite yet. once he puts it together him and ryan are gonna be one of the best 1-2 punches in the entire state. it could end up where they go 1-2 at the state meet. their 3 and 4 guys moved up again in terms of speed rating, as did the 5th guy, jesse's little bro justin. joe fallon and john bell have been going back and forth for that 3rd spot and have improved their ratings each week this season. if they can consistently stay in the 160's and justin get's into the 150's it'll be very tough to beat them. on justin garn, he's a talented kid, the whole garn family is (shown by younger sister rachel winning the girls sophomore race) and i truly would not be surprised to see justin catch up with bell and fallon (who's running xc for the first time ever btw) and in that case, my boys could be one of the top teams in the state overall. maybe just wishful thinking, but the possibility is there.
