NJSIAA agrees to independent monitor (http://www.app.com/article/20101006/NEWS03/10060357/NJSIAA-agrees-to-independent-monitor)

We take the report seriously and we're dealing with this," NJSIAA Executive Director Steven J. Timko said.

"We are going to implement changes."Assemblyman John Burzichelli, D-Gloucester, who pushed for the SCI investigation and whose bill would dissolve the NJSIAA, said the organization should not be given another chance.
"The NJSIAA's latest vow to reform itself would be laughable if this wasn't so serious," he said.Way to stay classy Burzicelli.

NJSBA Preparing to oversee H.S. Sports (http://www.app.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=201010060362)
At Burzichelli's request, the School Boards Association has already begun working toward a seamless transition for the oversight of high school sports. Its general counsel and chief financial officer head a task force that is developing a transition plan.Burzichelli asked the NJSIAA on Friday to cooperate with the School Boards Association, but said the NJSIAA has yet to respond to his written request. Is it just me or is he putting the cart before the horse? Who is this guy and how is he moving forward with all of this crap without any kind of legislation to back him up?

Long article in Philly Inquirer about yesterday's developments:

http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/high_school/new_jersey/20101006_NJSIAA_plans_changes_in_its_financial_operation.html

Politics as usual:

In a sign this situation may be moving toward a political compromise, Burzichelli indicated there was the possibility of a "hybrid" arrangement that combines aspects of his bill as well as the Codey-Deignan bill.
But Burzichelli made it clear that he would only agree to compromise if it involved significant changes at NJSIAA.
"The NJSIAA had its chance," Burzichelli said. "It continues to be time to move in a new direction."

Again, who the hell is he and what makes him think he's personally in charge of the NJSIAA? I must be missing something here. Has he been appointed to some position or head of a commission that is supposed to be running some investigation or is he just doing this because no one has told him to back off and wait for the wheels of the government to turn and respond in due time?

I love the way he criticizes the people at the NJSIAA for drawing pensions, which they certainly earned, while they are drawing a salary, which they also earn.

Hey, Burzichelli, are you getting salaries for being the mayor of Paulsboro and an Assemblyman or do you do that out of the goodness of your heart?

Guy has a lot of class and its all low.
