Because breaking 9 minutes is nothing special. Everyone does it. Hell, half my gym class did it. I think I could probably walk a sub 9 minute mile.

Chuck Norris broke 9 minutes while playing Forrest Gump in ping pong with his feet, blindfolded.

He won.

In all seriousness though, this is a bit impressive, and hopefully he will be putting down some solid times this spring, but why is he running a time trial like this right after (presumably) taking a post-XC break?

He might not have taken a break. After XC is a great time for track TTs prior to your break. Your already incredibly strong even if the speed isnt in ideal conditions. Cali doesn't have indoor so he could be taking a break now with a while to wait until his next race. Just an idea.

Although I've seen this before, I must say that this is the greatest HS Boys TT that I have ever seen or even heard about. This should also go down as the greatest one of all time.

He could also be waiting until winter break like most of my team.

If Alan Webb time trialed a 3:51 mile in HS, and no one was around to hear it, or see it--did it happen?

You obviously must be hanging around Liam too much to be sparking this discussion LOL.

In my opinion, something "happening" is all relative to the person. Religion for one, is a great example of this.

So to answer that: yes, to Alan Webb it did happen. It also happened to anyone else who chooses to believe it. But for those who were neither there nor choose to believe it, it didn't happen.

I would assume he is running USA Jr's this year. He ran last year and made the team, and if memory serves, I read an interview from Moussa saying he wants to make the team again

Yes. There are quite a few open outdoor track meets all over the state.

That guy that placed 2nd in the race to Moussa is better known as Ty McCormack. He graduated from North Hall High School in Georgia and had 3200, XC, 5k bests of 9:05, 15:05 at Foot Locker South, and 14:45. He has improved a lot since high school.
