Holey crap, could see this coming from them, just not without comp, wild stuff.
I look at the line up must have gotten huge leg from Bayer who is running absurd early, hope he holds on to the end.

It's possible that they had competition through the first two legs from the "unattached" (Indiana redshirt) team.
Turner is a legit 1200 guy, and Curtis Ivy is a 48.51 open guy in high school who is focusing on track for the first time (played football and basketball throughout h.s.). I'm sure they were close through two legs.
No doubt Helmer set this up - maybe have these guys close through 2 legs, have the 800 leg on the "B" team go out hard for the first 400 and then let Bayer solo it home.

No doubt, was just going to re post, saw that, Turner is a redshirt this year I think he has some eligibility left?
Still did not have to use 4:00.x-4:01 Hubers either.
Either way you know what legs have to look like here they have no 1:48 guy that I know of?

Indiana will not have to run again at DMR, unless I am way off on this
9:30.00 is hard to get to in any year Indoors
Oregon ran 9:35 without Fleet and Probably without Centro all out.

How does the system work now? There are still auto-qualifying standards, but not provisionals?

There are:
Auto Q'ers, unless field fills out with autos.
Plus next best about 7-10 depending on fillers, those being guys that have Q'ed in other events
It is all about athlete count , in the meet.

Bayer is redshirting outdoors, and doing this supposedly on very little base. Must be a monster talent.

Could not be possibly further from the truth
he was a 9:10 type HS guy
He is very talented and should get the pub he is getting.
But he is being pretty specificially trained right now

He went from 4:30 to 3:58 in 2 and a half years....That's not common.
