I saw that and I was like, whoa.
Didn't realize it was a world record.
Even more whoa.

Paula Radcliffe ran 1:05:40 but it was an aided course and doesn't count.
EDIT: Susan Chepkemei has also run 1:05:44 but it was also and aided course.

When did they start allowing male pacesetters for women?

Radcliffe had them for several of her WR attempts. Kastor has also had her training partner as a pacemaker for several years.

In the men's race, Deribe Merga went out in a blistering 13:37. He also set a new world's best in the 8K of 21:51 en route to the finish of a race nearly three times as long. He held on to win by 20 seconds after slowing considerably to win 59:24. Not nearly the overall performance of Keitany, but it's just amazing how recklessly Merga runs in these races.

world best = WR for non-standard distances if I'm not mistaken. The 8k is a non-standard road distance.
This is a ridiculous mark by Keitany. I wonder if she can get the full too

The fastest anyone has covered 8 kilometers on the road is probably Leonard Komon last year en route to his 26:44 10KM record. That race and his second attempt apparently didn't have official timing at 8KM, though.
This race had at least 5 spots for record(or best)-setting (8KM, 15KM, 10 mile, 20 KM, HM). It's pretty amazing that they went 6 for 10 in the two races, and I wonder if they could really have anticipated getting the 8k world marks en route.
Keitany has only run one marathon and didn't do great there (third in NY). Interestingly enough that's pretty much the same experience as her counterpart on the men's side, Zersenay Tadesse. Keitany races London in April, so we shall see.

Gonna say no. Radcliffe must have been possessed by an inhuman essence when she ran 2:15:25. I think is the highest ever performance based on the charts, unless Bolt has ran higher since then.

Agreed. That record is no where near as good as the 2:15:25 needed for the full. I mean good god Radcliffe runs two consecutive 1:07:4xs, less than 2 minutes off the half pace. Its almost equivalent to a man going 2:00. That record will only be broken by someone insanely good, and Mary isn't there yet based on that performance.

The math puts Mary at about 2:17, which means 2:15 is not impossible for someone who age wise has not hit their peak; however, it is difficult to estimate a marathon off of anything but a marathon. The top women marathoners train to run 2:20, which is all you need to win any race, Paula is the only one I know who trained to run much faster than that. No woman is ever going to run close to 2:15 until they train for it. When Paula was at her peak, she lived a monastic lifestyle dedicated entirely to one pursuit. At that time she also had an entire team dedicated to one athlete and one goal. El'G had a simalar situation when he was at his peak.
