Holy moly, he is no joke. He ran 16:01 at the Central Section finals at Woodward Park last August. Great to see a young runner doing so well.

He beat CJ Albertson, who was a NXN qualifier and ran 4:15 as a soph O.O

He also doubled back and ran 9:31 winning the 3200. This kid is legit...

I'm not sure how the Bakersfield area coaches are. In the Central Section basically everyone who wasn't from a Clovis school was notorious for running terribly at the cross country state meet (with a few exceptions in Chris Schwartz [on occasion] Jordan Hasay, Erik Garcia and a handful of others). He ran 39 seconds off his 16:01 pr at the state meet this year but maybe track will be different.

It looks like he is a random talent. About 15 minutes of googling didn't get me any results from before this year.

Those are very good 8th grade marks, so I could see how he had potential as he developed. 4:16 is still ridiculous though.
