Fitzsimmons killed the meet. I didn't know he was that strong over the 1600. I knew he had great 800-1k speed, but 4:05 even for a split is still hauling.

I vote Joanna Stevens as the best distance preformance (because that is what this poll really is) she could have gone out and gotten 3rd in the 2 Mile (10:11.xx pr) or place in the Mile (she would have led until about 1550 on her anchor leg) but instead focused on the DMR were she ran the 3rd fastest 1600 of the day and led her team to a national record.
But I would vote Octavius Freeman she ran .1 slower in the 100 then her best but she is currently 12th in the world in the 100 (1# junior in the world) her 100 today would have put her 23rd in the world and just over 25 in the 200.

watkins without a doubt, if it was an open 800 it would have smashed Granville's soph record by a full second!

So the distance bias is already starting up here too, huh?

its the same people as dyestat. not like we're going to have a radical psychological change along with a change of location.

yes of course, because splits are always exactly the same time as someone can run open <_<

There aren't even any sprinting options, lol.
But voted Fitzsimmons, and would have no matter what options were up there, he was a monster

I hate to be "that guy" but this is a pretty strong distance bias imo.
For example, I think Newburgh NY Elite should be in this.. won the 4x4 and the 800m SMR and finished a very close third (.003 out of second, .35 out of first) in the 4x200.
Also, Marquis Dendy, who jumped a very impressive 52-07 to win the TJ then came back to finish second in the LJ, or even Carlton Lavong who was second to Dendy in the TJ then won the LJ.
Or Octavious Freeman who won both the 100 (in a meet record 11.27) and the 200.
And Kendell Williams who won both the 100H and the 400H.
This was a very good and exciting meet for some distance performances and I think Fitzsimmons should win but I mean, Matt Mizereck 14:37? In what would be considered decent 5k conditions for NC this time of year? Not even close to some other performances.
Edit: Didn't read thread until after I posted so obviously I'm not the only one realizing the bias here.

Okay, I did not include sprints because I don't understand their significance as well as distance or follow them. All the websites I visit were talking about the distance events, and I thought few sprinters frequent dyestat (tracktalk).
Point taken; I'll include sprints or specify distance in the title next time.

I think a relay split is a bit different than an open 800...
Touch call between Wilson and Watkins. Went with Wilson.

Watkins ran amazing but i dont think that he would of broke the record if he ran the open 8. He was chasing the whole time in the relay which he wouldn't have been doing in the open 8
Ajee Wilson… relay splits typically require more scrutiny, but in this case we have a sophomore gal splitting essentially a TWO FLAT 800 meters. Relay or not, that’s simply an amazing performance for that young lady!
Voted accordingly.

Yes this was the best performance. Forget the distance bias, the gender bias is also rearing its ugly head. Her 800 split is clearly better than Fitz's. The only reason one could vote for Fitz over her is Fitz's double. In my opinion it is not enough, but its close. Ajee was way closer to the open HSR mark than Fitz was. I think Ajee has a shot at the HSR this year (at worlds).

not nearly as great as 2:00. there have been a few more than a few boys to run 1:47. there have been MAYBE 3 or 4 girls to ever run 2:00. i can only name two as of now, giving room for 2 more. 2:00 is unheard of for a girl. she is #1 on most collegiate relays, if not EVERY, and at worst #2 on that tennessee relay 2 years back....
stop trying to look smart. if you could read you would know that what he said was correct. smart one.
he was saying how she ran a performance singularly greater than those two performances... went right over your head. smart one.
btw, you missed the tag. asshole
