I would love another year of this stuff and to see the rivalry between him and Cheserek further develop. Goddamn.

He did not have to but because he started high school as older than most his competitors from moving here from Europe he felt it would be best to go ahead and finish up his high school early to get back on track with people closer to his age.

lol I know why he chose to skip a year (and it didn't have much to do with his age as it did with wanting to race at the college level sooner), I'm just complaining that I'd like to see him race hs competition another year.

I don't know, I'd actually like there to be a competitive race at IHSA state in XC

Lukas Verzbicas Birthday Jan 6, 1993
Edward Cheserek Birthday Feb 2, 1994

I'm 95% certain these are the correct birthdays.

EDIT: I was curious, and once I did the homework, thought I'd share it with everyone.

maybe someone can filled me in on why he was able to just decide i want to skip senior year assholes!!

when i was six, i moved here from england and was bumped up to second grade because I knew how to write or some **** (they start a year early in england), so i could understand if it was the same situation with him. However, he went through freshman year like everyone else so how can he possibly graduate on time meeting all of the state's high school graduation requirements?

Its very possible, I have a few friends who did this. Most kids have enough credits by junior to graduate and he probably is in some advanced classes so he could have his senior year requirements out of the way. It also doesn't hurt that he is an elite athlete so they can get away with some things that many students can't.

I don't think that's how public school works..

I could have graduated a year early if I had wanted. It's not terribly hard at a big Chicagoland public school

He may have taken the GED which will act as a high school diplomia for

some colleges, most of which are not exactly demanding universities in

terms of academics, which might also be a reason why he chose to attend

Oregon.

He took summer classes to get enough credits.

I found out just a little too late at my high school how easy it was to graduate a year early, a lot of us kids taking the honors courses just needed government to graduate my senior year. A few kids who were 2 years behind me in school graduated the year after I did because the cat kinda came out of the bag.

Public schools get funding for how many kids are in their schools, so its easy to see why they want you there for four years getting them money, and at the same time IMHO they make the classes easier and easier every year to keep kids in schools (no child left behind, more funding money), and then the smarter kids that want to advance get screwed.
