So aside from our favorite lady Triton, Allie Woodward, and UHS standout Molly Seidel, there are some girls who are performing exceptionally well at the D2/D3 level.

Paige Peschel, (FR), Westfield Area/Montello:

I was talking with one of the Madison Edgewood distance coaches last night and the name Paige Peschel came up. This was the third time in the past 5 days her name has come up. And rightfully so as she's been tearing it up lately. She's posted a 5:00/10:51 in her recent outings. Assuming that Belleville/New Glarus had similar conditions to Monona Grove's meet last night, her performance was, again, very impressive. Where was she in XC? She had a string of victories up until the state meet where the edgewood coach and I concluded that she probably finished 31st due to inexperience. Everything else was there!

Tricia Serres, (JR), Platteville:

A dangerous runner from 400m on up. She has 61s quarter speed, can run 2:16.2 in the half and under 5 in the 1600m. Solidifying her versatility is a 14:12 PR in the 4000m and a 14:32 on the state meet course. I think the 2:16 early on this year indicates she's ready for so much more come the state finals. It'll be fun to watch her in these races.

Molly Hanson, (JR), Dodgeville-Mineral Point:

She finished second to Tricia Serres in the 800m at the Prairie du Chien Relays with a time of 2:17. I believe this is Coach Hanson's daughter so she'll be extra competitive!

Andi Ostenso, (SO), Ladysmith:

She really needs no introduction. She was near the top of the distance fields last year, she clocked Eckhoff in cross country and has all-in-all shown every indication that she'll be at the top again this year after posting a 5:05/10:46 double at Northwestern HS on Friday night (5/13).

WILDCARD:

Kelli McKenna, (JR), Madison Edgewood:

She's got speed in her name, she's run under 2:20 before and she looked very solid at the Madison City Outdoor Championships on Tuesday. I was especially impressed by her ability to restrain herself in the 800m after the Memorial girl went out so hard. She's in control. I believe by the end of the season she'll be competing for a top podium spot. Excellent speed, nice last name. Interesting fact, she's belongs to a triplet!

Sarah McMahon, (SR), Colfax:

One of the gutsier runners at the D3 level. She ran 5:05 indoors at TFA and 11:18 early on in the year in the 3200m. Has posted several 5:15s since then without being pushed. It'll be interesting to see what her and rival Breanna Colbenson of Spring Valley can do at the state meet given the fast pace set by Molly in that 1600m. I have a feeling they'll be about 1/2 to 3/4 of a lap behind Seidel in the 3200m, however.

Breanna Colbenson, (SO), Spring Valley:

She upset McMahon in the fall at the Dunn-St. Croix Conference Meet which was the second time she has beaten her. The first came last spring in the conferene 3200m. She recently posted a double of 5:18/11:46 at the Amery Invite. I believe she was all by herself so once she is pushed by her rival, it'll be interesting to see how low she can get.

She is also the daughter of Ann Mulrooney, mutli state champ in the 70's and sister of Michaela Courtney, multi-state champ in the early 2000's.

Anne Gregory from Xavier has posted 5:17 for the 1600 and 11:33 for the 3200, the 3200 all alone. She should be able to better both of those marks.

Interesting with the choices off sarah mcmahon and breanna colbenson. Both are tripling as they did at their conference meet. Sarah went 2:22, 5:11 and 11:56 while Breanna went 2:25, 5:15 and 11:26. Should get interesting.
