4:48 1600 enroute to 9:56 3200 (All-Time Illinois State Record)

that is a HARD first 1600

If she went out in 4:55, she probably could've run 9:50!

Solo effort (1600 split would be a state record)

1600 split would be class record, #2 all time all classes.

That's right, thanks for clarifying. This is an amazing performance and to put in perspective....there have been years when her time would have placed/been all-state for Class A boys. Absolutely Amazing!

4:49*

Mile goes off in around 15 minutes for the first class. You can watch it online at ihsa.org

edit: Check that, more like 25-30 minutes. Says it's gonna start at 3:35 central time

Came back with a 4:43.65 in the 1600 just now. Class record by 14 seconds and probably a state record.

Female Cheserek...

She could definitely break 4:40y. I'd love to see her race Cuffe and Pierce.. will this happen? Is she going to NBN or Dream Mile or anything post season?

She is on the start list for the dream mile.

her 2nd 1600 of the 3200 would have beaten all but 1 other in her own 1600 race (excluding her actual time) and placed 8th in the bigger AAA race. Truly incredible.

She would've been all-state (7th) in the 1A 4X800.

This is a huge improvement over her cross country season. I would really like to see all the top ranked girls go at it in the two mile at nationals. Imagine a Cuffe, Beattie, Baxter battle. I think that both Cuffe and Beattie could surpass the national record, and Baxter should at least be pulled along to the freshman record.

Here's a video of the last two laps of Kayla's 1600 race at the state meet:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t-ZYjjdMdM0

My daughter took the video, and she and her teammates were in awe watching Kayla run.

Also note that Kayla has a younger sister, Maura (http://il.milesplit.com/athletes/1707810), who is a freshman at Woodstock HS. Maura ran a 10:48.34 in the 3200 and a 5:12.18 in the 1600 at an invite on 4-29-11, but then did not run at sectionals (or state, obviously). I am not sure if she is injured or not, but she shows a lot of promise. I don't think Kayla had those times in her freshman year.
