Shorewood Early Bird Invite (http://67.23.19.61/system/files/4618/original/BV_Team.pdf?1314314505)

Shorewood 35
Marquette 38

Great race, both teams had 5 in the top 13.

Joe McAsey wins in 16:18.

Defending D2 champ fainted after a 6th place finish at the KML Charger Classic. He started fast as usual but the heat probably got to him? He was taken away on an ambulence... So it didn't look good.

Did Marquette not bring down their varsity squad or something?

A quick glance and it looks like they had their top guys. They had an athlete that had some issues going into the finish. Not having his day and I believe one more runner was having an off day? McAsey improved by a bit and Demet was just a bit slower. The course had long grass in spots. Its the first race of the season. I'm sure that they will be fine! Who knows how they trained this week?

Here are the unofficial team results from the Menomonee Falls Grade Level challenge. These were done by taking all the times from each of the four class results and then taking out the 8th runners and beyond for each team. I posted these on the rankings thread, but realized I should have probably posted them here.

Brookfied Cental-69
Tosa East- 90
Homestead- 98
Waukesha North- 109
Westosha Central- 115
Germantown- 123
Menomonee Falls- 169
Waukesha West- 201
Waterford- 230
Franklin- 266

I am pretty sure that is faster than the record for both the old and the new course. It was definitely a pretty fast day, but he looked really good.

A 22s course record I believe. Came thru 3200m in 10:20ish. So that's a 5:18 last 1.1 ~ 4:41/442 last mile.

Steven Mallory
08-26-2011, 08:34 PM
Hirsch's 15:38 is the fastest I have seen on the "new" course, which I will contend is significantly more challenging. I think when you compare Hirsch to Gagne (16:12) and Derner/Routhier (16:15ish in 2010) it gives you some perspective on the race. Either a favorite for a medal or an early peak.

Not much discussion going on with the races that have been run in the last week.

Ryan McCoy wins by 45 seconds in a time of 16:00.
Monroe, Freedom, Wisconsin Lutheran, Notre Dame looks strong for D2.

Brookfield Central, Arrowhead, Logan and Madison West seem to look like the early favorites on the D1 side. Carl Hirsch runs sub 16 his first race, with Dan Gagne under 16:15. Arrowhead looks like the breezed through their early race?

D3 teams I have not seen to many results to make a judgement. Anybody who would like to take a stab?

Girls results? Anything that jumps out? Flatley, Fon's, other's? Seidel races tomorrow?

How about Freshman? Any potential talent out there?

Discuss on some of the results that you have seen.

I have it in one of my above posts as actually at the high school! I went through and did as thorough of a job as possible when recording meet information. I hope to reuse it.

I couldn't find any results from previous years but either way D.C. Everest looks legit and so do Dirkman and Abfall. Great race!

My database server went down and I am experiencing delays on my end. I have been on the phone with the web hosting company various times over the past two days and I am very annoyed with them. This issue is completely out of my hands but I hope that the data is restored sometime very soon.

Hirsch and Gagne race each other the next two meets and then two later in the season. I don't think Campbell races Hirsch again until state, but he and Gagne are in the same sectional. So the three of them will not race all at the same time until state.

It was a really great finish, with all three of them just flying the last 2 or 300 meters.

Update: I think all three of them race at Wisconsin Lutheran the week before conference. At least last year all three teams were there.

"The course is a rolling course with primarily a grass and wood chip surface. Runners will cross the park roads very few times. (3 road crossings of less than 20 meters). 1.5 inch Spikes can be worn."
Wow! That's a pretty big spike.

To be fair, Janesville Craig was missing one of its top 5 (Evan Lalor). The 5th runner was a huge part of that gap between the teams. Craig can beat Arrowhead!!!

To be fair, Lalor would have had to finish 3rd. Then Janesville would have lost the tie-breaker. Think he would have run under 15:44? These teams are joined by LaFollette and Logan two weeks from now at Blackhawk. I hope everyone is healthy, because that's going to be prodigious.

I think the point was that it would have been much closer. Keep in mind that this was on Arrowhead's home course. On the right day, I think Craig could beat them. I wouldn't predict it, but it wouldn't surprise me.

The "point" was ludicrous! What are you guys smoking? Craig won't beat Arrowhead this year barring TWO injuries from Arrowhead's top 5...not going to happen! Smart move not predicting it.

I believe Lalor was just behind Sarow last week. If that had happened again Arrowhead would still have won, but a huge chunk of the gap between the teams would be erased. Craig is within striking distance on a good day, particularly if ONE Arrowhead guy has an off day.

Considering Monroe was without their #5 guy (Hoesly) from their first home invite and Shorewood was without their #4 guy (Treacy) from their first home invite I think this is just the start of great things for these two teams. Shorewood actually had all 8 guys under 18:00 at Arrowhead and they took the top two JV places with 17:59's. Include Treacy in this group and Shorewood has 11 guys under 18:00 right now. I think 5
or 6 of these guys might be underclassmen so you can expect considerable improvement from these early season meets.

Rocket Invite results- Good team and individual races. Fons and Flately ran with teammates through about 2 miles and then ran the last 800 hard and took first and second, but with slower times than they would normally run. Hirsch back under 16 again ahead of a good field. Tosa East first in the boys, but no Wesley Vann for Brookfield Central. Brookfield Central first for the girls race.

Seeing as the girls transitioned to 4k in 1992 or 1993 there are only a few candidates who could've possibly run faster.

Alex DeVinney ran under 14:00 at the Rebel Invitational in 2001. I know because I was there although the 2001 times are not listed on the wisconsinrunner.com website for the all time bests at Parkside.

Brooke Novak, to my knowledge, never ran under 14:00 for 4k. Liz Reusser got better as the distances got longer but I don't think she did either. Ashley Beutler would be another candidate and I am unaware of her times depsite being in the recent past. Beyond that I can't really think of anyone else who would have been able to run under 14:00. I am sure there are a few more...

No video, but Lewin actually lead for the first 4200 meters or so... went out slow, lewin up front w/ 5:15, others back around 5:17-5:20. Lewin lead at 3200 w/ 10:15, Meister and Sandvold around 10:20... then Meister and Sandvold started rollin' w/ about 1k left and caught Lewin w/ about 800 left and just pulled away. Awesome race.

Perhaps a great course, short course, competition or perfect conditions? Times can really drop depending on these factors. (look at the Arrowhead Invite)
Since I do not know the teams they competed against can't compare. I'm familiar with Neenah's course. Not so much with the course in St. Louis. Friday will be telling!

I'm not an MU hater but I just find it interesting that even the top 5 runners broke the course record of 15:28.30 (2006). Make the call. How can times drop that much? I already listed possible reasons. If so this will be a great State Meet!

Last Year reasonable temps (61-83) so good weather depending when they raced.
Last Years:
15:51.9 Caleb Wilfong jr Rock Bridge
15:57.0 Zach Herriott jr Rockhurst
16:28.8 Brandon Shemonia jr Scott City High School
16:44.0 Noah Kauppila fr Marquette
16:45.9 Alex Riba so O'Fallon HS (IL)

I've been to Forest Park. It's a huge park, and I have no idea what part the course is in. Some parts are rolling hills (although I don't know of any big climbs), some parts are flat as a pancake. It is spread out enough that one could easily make a moderate/somewhat hilly course, or a super-fast flat course . So my guess would be that the course changed significantly.

Edit: I stand corrected. The meet website says (http://www.bigriverrunning.com/fpxc.php#courseinfo) that the course hasn't changed. They also have a map up, and from what I can remember that is a very flat part of the park.

This is from the St. Louis Dispatch about the boy that won the other division race for smaller schools-

"For Keence, a slender 6-1, 135 pounds, the fast pace produced a fast time. In a sport where improvement comes in sips rather than gulps, the St. Charles West runner powered through the race more than a minute faster than he ever had run 5,000 meters.
"I was not expecting this time at all," he said."

With almost everyone in the race looking like they ran huge pr's, 20 guys breaking 16 minutes in the large school division, 6 guys under 15:30, and the winner running 15:10, shattering the course record, something was obviously going on with the times on that day.

The bottom line is looking at cross country times is sometimes pretty pointless. Marquette is obviously a good team once again this year and with a great coach and great tradition they will be competitive at the end of the year as always, but this race doesn't really give us an idea of just how good they are at this point.

Coach Kearney is a funny irishman with lots of great coaching philosophies. He's a converted runner. I won't pretend to know him but it's what I've gathered from listening to this man. He's a hoot.

Plus, consider the turnout they get each year. They have a pool of 180 to choose from and their school is a powerhouse in soccer meaning lots of cuts.

If you watch this video that Port Washington made and posted (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DSzrdbimx4o&feature=related), it looks like the times match up if you take out the first time of 15:58. If you have Hansen at 16:08 as the winning time and then you time the gap of the runners behind him, it matches up, with Woodford about 10 seconds behind him, Nottingham a couple seconds behind Woodford and McKee about 27 seconds behind Nottingham. If that is the case, everyone's actual time would be the time listed for the place behind them. After the first few, it only affects each persons time by a few seconds at most.

For the forest park meet I can vouch for the conditions being just about perfect that day. I attended this meet and it was like 55 degreees, no wind, and just a small mist. The grass is also pretty hard as it's been pretty dry here lately. While I can't speak to the hs course exactly the college course was pretty well on. I'd just guess it was the combination of unseasonably cool and not humid weather in a city known for it's awful heat.

Good results at the Big 8 Grade Level. Madison West gets Barry back and Carrel runs better, the freshman Hacker steps up nicely. Good to see them getting back into shape. Janesville wins pretty easy without Lalor again, and LaFollette finishes third overall. The Big 8 conference meet should be exciting later on.

2 Brad Woodford Waukesha South H.S. 16:18.4 3:16/K 10 (16:18)
5 Nick Petersson Brookfield Central H.S. 16:31.2 3:18/K 11 (16:26)
7 Patrick Campbell Aquinas H.S. 16:36.2 3:19/K 11(17:25)
8 Andres TineoPaz The Prairie School 16:37.1 3:19/K 11(16:49)
9 Michael Christianson Aquinas H.S. 16:39.6 3:20/K (hasn't raced this season as from what I've seen from Aquinas' results, but we saw what he did on the track)
10 Carl Hirsch Brookfield Central H.S. 16:41.0 3:20/K 10 (15:38)
11 Matt Cyra Mukwonago H.S. 16:42.7 3:20/K 10 (haven't seen any results from him yet either)
12 Ian Cichacki Mukwonago H.S. 16:43.3 3:21/K 11(17:57)
14 Jeff Meitler Milwaukee Lutheran H.S. 16:45.6 3:21/K 11 (16:26)
16 Dan Gagne Wauwatosa East H.S. 16:53.3 3:23/K 10 (16:28)
20 Steffen Uhrich Wauwatosa East H.S. 17:03.4 3:25/K 10 (16:39)

28 Garrett Miller Kettle Moraine 17:16.1 3:27/K 10 (17:26)
29 Brett Harms Whitewater H.S. 17:16.4 3:27/K 9 (17:18)
30 Wesley Vann Brookfield Central H.S. 17:16.6 3:27/K 11 (16:59)
31 Steve Nelson Kenosha St. Joseph H.S. 17:16.9 3:27/K 11 (17:05)
32 John Brennan Racine St. Catherine's 17:17.2 3:27/K 11 (no results from this season)
33 Jake Schmidt Oak Creek H.S. 17:19.5 3:28/K 10 (17:39)
35 Alex Murray West Allis Hale H.S. 17:22.0 3:28/K 11 (17:46)
39 Gabe Poser Brookfield Central H.S. 17:24.9 3:29/K 11 (17:00)
42 Greg Gamroth Kettle Moraine H.S. 17:30.5 3:30/K 11 (no results)
44 Logan Eggert Milwaukee Rufus King H.S. 17:31.8 3:30/K 11 (16:51)
47 Kevin Ryan Kenosha St. Joseph H.S. 17:34.5 3:31/K 9 (16:55)
49 Anthony Rueda West Allis Central H.S. 17:35.5 3:31/K 11 (17:52)
50 Jacob Ebben West Allis Hale H.S. 17:36.5 3:31/K 11 (16:47)

Guys that should contend for the win are:

Woodford
Hirsch
Christianson (if he runs)
Campbell
Peterson
TineoPaz
Meitler

Guys for the other 8 spots:

Gagne
Uhrich
Rizzo
Justin Krueser, Kenosha Bradford(17:59 here last year, 16:23 this season)
Ryan
Nelson
Eggert
Poser
Vann
Ebben
Jason Marhol, Port Washington (17:47 here last year, 16:51 this season)

Last year's winning time was 16:17 and 15th place was 16:50, both slow for the meet, but considering the conditions, was pretty impressive. There was a delay because of storms and the course was nothing but mud and puddles last year. This year the weather is looking good, 65 and sunny, so should be high 50s to low 60s for race time, look for a hard course and near perfect conditions and for fast times.:) I'm thinking around 15:45 for the win, with 15th place needing to run sub 16:30 for a medal.

Team wise I think it will be between Brookfield Central and Tosa East for the title, with Bradford, St. Joes and Waukesha South for the rest of the top 5.

Overall, I think it's gonna be Christianson ftw if he runs, or else it's gonna Hirsch or Woodford, kind of torn between the two, and I think Brookfield Central will top Tosa East by 20-25 points.

So Bryce Miller of Ashland beats both Ryan Kromer and Andrew Faris. Josh Smith was right there too beating Vodacek by 6 seconds. I know this course is kind of fast but still Bryce Miller looks good. Grantsburg (86:06.50) won this meet putting all 5 scorers between 17:03 and 17:25. Watchout for a rising Ellsworth (88:00.10) in D2. Good showing for Webster's Joey Erickson (D3) !

Some good research psychedfortrack2011 for the Angel Invite. Thanks for doing that. One mistake I would like to point out is that you have Dan Gagne's pr listed at 16:28, but in his three races this year he has run 16:12, 16:18 and 16:17. He beat Hirsch in one of those races, Petersson in all three races and Meitler the only time he raced him. His 16:17 was on one of the slower courses around, Tendick Park, on a very warm and humid day. I would put Dan in the group of guys that would have a chance to be top 5 as opposed to that next 8.

Also, my guess is around 10 guys will break 16:30, although I wouldn't be completely shocked to see it go up to 15 or so like you said. A lot depends on if guys like Christensen and Cyra run their first race or not and what kind of shape they are in, plus a couple of others that haven't run sub 17 this year, but have done so in previous years.

I honestly have no idea why I listed his season best at 16:28, my mistake, since he did run those times and beat those guys, I would also put him up in that first group.

I feel like the WCCCA's newest rankings (http://www.wisconsinrunner.com/wccca/rankings_week_3_2011.htm) are much more accurate than last weeks (at least for D1)!

I agree except for a few little things. Marquette, La Follete and Brookfield Central should be ahead of La Crosse Logan, Nekoosa/ Port Edwards should be #1 in D2 and Grantsburg and Boscobel should be ahead of Rosholt in D3.

They beat Freedom early on and Freedom has run well against other D2 schools. Freedom has also had some exposure to other areas of the state giving us enough to gauge where they are at. I think despite the course being a little fast yesterday Notre Dame is emerging among the D2 powers.

Gotta disagree with the fast course point, back in the day I ran Colburn all the time, very legit course.

Angel Invite (http://www.wisconsinrunner.com/results/2011angelinvite/2011_ANGEL_INVIT_V_BOYS_OVERALL.HTM) takes 32 under 17:00, and 4 go sub-16. Looks like this was a great race with perfect conditions.

Christianson comes in 14th at 16:27.4. Fantastic PR for Kevin Ryan!

An interesting note: As I was looking at the Parkside all-time list (boys @ sub-16:30) I noticed that at the 2002 Angel Invite, Bryan Culver (Waukesha South) beat Scott Mueller (Brook. Central), 16:18 (2nd) to 16:20 (3rd). Then at the same meet in 2003, Culver again beat Mueller, 15:38 (1st) to 15:45 (2nd). I found it interesting that this year we again have elite runners from Waukesha South and Brook. Central battling each other (plus Gange, of course!). With these times as juniors, I can't wait for next year (already)!

These predictions were almost exact! Until the last part, but I believe Christianson has been sick which hindered his training.

This race has to put Hirsch up there to podium for the D1 state meet. He is consistently winning with solid times, but we shall see when Griak comes along...

Between these two and Tyson Miehe who ran 15:48 a few days back, D3 is gonna be a freaking dog fight. Tineo and Ryan race each other next week at the laser relays, conference, and sectionals, it's really a toss up at this point, that was a 54 second pr for Ryan, ridiculous.

I heard that at captiol conf. mccoy of ngm won handidly (20-30seconds ish) over grey davis of lakeside lutheran. times were nothing spectacular due to poor weather and a pretty slow course. Mccoy seems to be incredibly fast at the moment, if he can hold it he could definetely be a contender, especially seeing christianson not being at his full potential quite yet. only time will tell

Darin Lau of Immanuel Lutheran, ran 16:13 tonight, one of three sophomores in D3 to run a legitimate time this season. Tyson Miehe of Darlington has ran 15:48 at a faster course and Kevin Ryan of Kenosha St. Joe's has ran 16:00 at Parkside. These three, along with Andrew Studinski (16:27 pr) of Marathon, could make for an interesting next couple of years at the Ridges.

The course was right around 3 mi. (4830 m). He was only 50-75 m behind the lead golf cart the entire time, so I doubt he missed any turns. Last week's Neillsville Invite was more impressive to me, as he ran the 2nd fastest time I've seen on that course, better Marcus Aumann's 2007 performance by 3 seconds.

Ryan McCoy is running like a man among boys so far this season. Last year he sat out the majority of his track season and his summer with a stress fracture, but this year he's had a full and successful track season and im sure a summer packed full of miles. In my opinion, he's my early favorite to be standing atop the podium at the Ridges.

In my opinion - One off two things is going to happen. Either he will have an a great finish at state like the ones he is putting on in September, or he will be already burnt out by the time end of October comes. Look what happened last year in the D2 boys race, who says it won't happen to McCoy who is the clear favorite right now?

Great point, but we all have to agree that either way, the D2 race will be a great one to watch, with McCoy, Evans, Wunnicke, and hopefully Christianson among the top. i say hopefully because christianson is sick now and i hope he can get back to full strength soon to get some strong races under his belt

Yeah, Diffee surprised me by his time and by beating meister on his home course. Last year, he was never really mentioned with that top group of stud runners, but with this impressive race he just adds to the group of elites (sandvold, meister, hirsch, etc. ) that will make this year's D1 race another dogfight like last year.

The course is almost completely flat and that is the only reason the times might seem fast

notorious for being short, my coach used to say that the course is never carefully put up, I no it was said to be measured, but i feel like there is probably alot of tangent corners, either way its the head to head match ups that matter here

There's some confusion with the Winter meets on Tuesday and Thursday. I saw both on the various schedules and couldn't decide whether it was one meet mislabeled a bunch of times or two meets. No one from Winter high answered my inquiries.

The Eagle Invite at Parkside is finally a chance for Arrowhead and Craig to go at it on a course that isn't flat, what's gonna be more interesting is Sandvold vs. Meister. Meister has gotta be itching to get another shot at him after this past weekend.

What's really gonna be fun is seeing how Brookfield Central and Madison West fit in with these guys since they will be at the meet as well.

I think that Zach Hansen and Kyle Nottingham both seniors, and sophomore Kevin Ryan will be on the list after the Kenosha county meet at parkside on Friday, Kevin has already ran faster than both of them this season. Zach and Kyle went 1-2 last year, I think Kevin will split them up. Zach will be 15:50, Kevin 15:56, and Kyle 15:58. Will definitely be a good race.

Speaking of head to head match ups, the Dick McKichan Invite at Platteville this saturday features two of the top contenders in D2: Trevor Wunnicke and Ryan McCoy. Anyone got predictions for this one?

The race also has Tyson Miehe in it. It is completely possible that all three break the current course record of 16:03 held by Jerry Kerska. Last year Wunnicke won this meet in 16:14, Miehe was second in 16:22, and McCoy was third in 16:34.

I think McCoy and Wunnicke will pull away from Miehe around 1.3ish miles (the point that they hit the hardest hill of the course), I'm guessing Wunnicke will fade off from McCoy around the prairie loop in the last .8 miles. I'm going to guess McCoy will finish around 15:44, Wunnicke 15:53, Miehe 16:03.

This is the only meet that I am going to this year, I'm looking forward to seeing the race.

Zach Hansen went 15:46 at Parkside at the Kenosha County Meet tonight. He was basically by himself after the mile and had a 10 second lead over teammate Kyle Nottingham (16:06) before the 2 mile. Soph Kevin Ryan of St. Joe's was 3rd in 16:14.

It would have been interesting what Zach could have ran if he had run at Eagle tmrw morning instead of this and actually had someone pushing him.

Regarding Chocolate City:

Somebody tripped over the power cord after the first 2 runners finished.

Oh, and the boys say the course is longer this year. They lengthened two
of the loops, so maybe it is really a 5k course now.

Very nice photos as usual!

And as to the course length, I thought the time difference from 1 to 2 was pretty big compared to last year, and since Davis was 3rd and over 16 as compared to his 1st place 15:39 a year ago

Did anyone have hand times? Being a South alum, I am curious as to the rest of South's runner's times in particular

Our local paper covers Lakeside Lutheran and Jefferson which ran in the meet. They listed all of each of their teams times, but here are the ones that were in the top 25:

Grey Davis(Lakeside Lutheran) was third in 16:22
Clayton Morrison(Jefferson) was fourth in 16:33
Seth Schumacher(Lakeside Lutheran) was 14th. in 17:22
Zach Linse(Jefferson) was 17th. in 17:33
Brennan Linse(Jefferson) was 25th. in 17:49

If you know all of the places you can get an approximate picture of what kind of times people were running.

Things got pretty close last night in Black River Falls. If Christianson returns to true form in the coming weeks look out for Aquinas! Looking at this outing, Nekoosa has a better balance 1-5 but Aquinas will have those low points in the scoring at state.

not sure if it's a national record but that is very fast. she was 5:11 at the mile and 10:33 through two miles. Indicative of a sub-17 5k.

Previous PR of the Iowa girl was 14:15 before the 13:10... I think Iowa is notorious for running on short/pancake courses.

Seidel has been 13:36 at UW-Parkside where Footlocker Midwest is held, 13:44 at the Ridges Golf Course (last year at state) and in the 13s multiple times this season on legitimate courses. Apparently she went the wrong way at McCarty Park in Milwaukee last week but still won by 20s in a 14:31.

Honestly, she should be a contender for a national title in cross country, NXN or Footlocker or both. I think she would have been a contender last year. She was a little banged up at Footlocker Midwest and finished 11th, two weeks after recording a 17:10 on the same course. Silly of her to have gone that fast when she didn't really need to which perhaps resulted in her knee problem at the end of last year.

True. She and the first 15+ girls went off course a little past 800M and started down part of the boys loop. I estimate from where I saw her turn back from she went 200M off course and then had to mostly double back to get back into the race. She deviated by 300-400M. She definately would have been mid 13:30's or faster.

I am pretty sure you are mixing up the jv and varsity race. I think Molly was the only one to go off course in the varsity race. At the mile mark all the other leaders were where they should have been, including her sister Isabel. Molly was flying by people and caught up to the leaders around the mile mark, which would tell me she couldn't have gone a minute off course.

The JV girls race is where 15-20 girls went off course, after the 2 mile mark. Supposedly a race official sent them the way the boys are supposed to finish, not the girls. They ended up going almost three minutes out of their way. The sad thing is that most of those girls were trying to earn their way on to varsity for the conference meets, but never got a chance to.

In the 15 years that we have hosted at McCarty, this is the 1st year that we had runners go off course. The "race official" sent the JV girls towards the bridge and then they took a left at a yellow flag. In walking the course they went over the bridge, and they should also know that a yellow flag means right turn. That area can be confusing but we have never had a problem in the past. You can guarantee that we will have multiple parents in that area next year. We were also very surprised that Seidel took the wrong turn that early in the race. She won the meet in 2010 and should always know the course as the front runner that she is - she seemed fine with the mistake afterwards. After setting up all day, we were so surprised to have both races take wrong turns. This had never happened.

Hopefully you weren't taking that as criticism; just trying to let people know what happened. I have hosted meets before and know that no matter how hard you work at something and try to make everything perfect, something can still go wrong, sometimes through no fault of your own. If a meet consistently has issues with people going the wrong way or other problems, that is a different story. As you said, nothing like this has happened in the previous 15 years. I am sure people were wondering why Molly's time was so slow (for her) or why maybe some top jv girls were way back.

Actually, I think she hurt her knee while water skiing when she was on vacation the weekend before Footlocker. At least that was what her coach said.

Didnt see it as criticism. We just felt bad that this happened at this point in the season. In the end, the runners need to know the course and we had it lined and flagged. However, we feel bad when it happens on our course especially when we spend a lot of time preparing.

I am not mixing up anything as I was a very close witness to both races going off course. There were several varsity girls who were veering back onto the course after turning prematurely. Seidel was the last one to turn back on to the course correctly. I was warming up our varsity boys at the time and we were right there when it happened. This all happened before the mile mark you witnessed.

Thanks. I stand corrected. I was at the mile mark and was just going from what people around me were saying, where people were at the mile mark and what people were saying after the race. Obviously the whole field didn't go 300 or 400 meters extra since Molly is already so far ahead at the 800 meter mark. I was surprised that she already caught up with the field shortly after the mile mark, but if a few others also ran farther, then that makes more sense. Thanks again.

She's okay, but it isn't like she has run a sub 13 4k or anything like that. :)

It is very impressive to me that with all the great female runners Wisconsin has had over the years, two of the best (if not THE best) were only a year apart, with Allie Woodward last year and of course Molly this year.

I'm curious about what was wrong with Jackie Dubnicka today? She should have won her conference meet!

He's really really improved this year. To defeat Tommy Meister once was a break through, twice is a statement. He falls in the sophomore class age range. Congrats, Chandler!
