Sort of a Newsletter type thing that I will update every week or so with new stuff on what Maine athletes are doing. Maybe even some interviews occasionally =)
We'll start off with New Balance Nationals performances by Maine athletes!
For girls...
At the 1500m mark, Leonardi was 14th with 4:36, but eventually finished 11th overall in a disappointing (for her) 4:56.22 for the full mile, but can you really complain about being 11th in the nation as a sophomore and setting another State Record?!
She redeemed herself in the 2 mile, however!
At 3000m she was 6th in 9:48, then finished 4th overall with a time of 10:26.59, smashing the Maine State Record and securing All-American honors!
Keila Grigware pulled off a solid 41.37m / 135-09 throw to secure 6th place and All-American status!
For boys, Will G went through the 1500m mark in 3:55 and was 12th at this point.
He finished a very respectable 9th with a time of 4:12.76
He went through the 3000m mark of the 2mile in 20th at 8:44.92 , finished in the same position with a solid 9:22.71
Henry Sterling won his heat of the 5000m to finish tenth overall with a time of 15:17.77
Terwilliger led the Emerging Elite 2 mile though the 3k mark at 8:45.64, finished by winning the race in 9:22.99 and setting a new Meet Record for the event!
Robert Hall finished 18th in the Freshman mile with a time of 4:45
For team scoring, Leonardi's performances get her tied with 16 other teams at 74th place out of 137 teams xD
Now onto USATF JR Nationals! (Beware, I'm not familiar with all the collegiate athletes from Maine that are competing, so I could miss some!)
Levi Miller finished 5th in the 1500 with a time of 3:47.78
He then doubled back and got 2nd in the 5000m with a time of 14:47.35
Eric Giddings finished 5th in the 10000m with a time of 32:28.90
Mike Boucher finished 5th in the 10k RW with a time of 55:14.42
Lauren Forgues got 2nd in the 10k RW with a time of 53:56.73
Dat's all for now, folks!
