heard there was a massive brawl during the 4x4s at the Hispanic Games today. Anybody there or hear anything?

Sounds pretty bad ... apparently got started during an early section, when a kid got the baton knocked out of his hand and started fighting the kid who knocked it out. Both teams jumped in and apparently people from the stands got involved? Sounds like they had to bring in a bunch of cops to finally put an end to it.

We've seen a few ugly moments -- 2004 indoor SEC, that brawl between FSU and Clemson and wasn't there a fight between a couple runners in the 4x4 at M-of-C a few years back along the backstretch?

But this sounds really ugly. It's a shame. Great sport. hate to hear this stuff.

If you go to this link and forward to 8:49:50 you will see heat 3 of the 4x4... At 140 meters into the 2nd leg the kaos begins... A very unfortunate incident.

I think that fight at MOCs was the 4x100 the first year they added the relay ... right after the exchange was made. Could have been the 4x400 though. That was embarrassing ... even more so if it was midrace.

It was on the backstretch and it was scary. I remember one official getting in the middle of it while it seemed like dozens of people were running there -- I thought it was the 4-x-400 but I remember it was broad daylight. I think it might have been a Group meet, not MOC. It was at South Plainfield.

Christ... I don't know what's worse, the fight itself or the morons in the balcony whooping it up like they were seeing something grand.

Well, it cost them. According to a post accompanying the video on RunnerSpace the teams have been banned from the Armory. No idea which teams were involved.

1 teammate even jumps off the balcony and onto the track over the head of an official. i don't think the video pics it up but I saw it live. to top if off, about 10min later another brawl ensued in the stands, between girls and parents. police had to come and people had to be restained it was ugly.

Definately Mt.Vernon (they were in yellow) and I am almost positive it was Thomas Jefferson in blue.
