Massachusetts XC 2012

99 days to go until the first practice.

Any discussion? Who has improved the most since last November?

Pembroke & BF still look great on the D2 side
D1 looks wide open

Northfield always brings a few interesting twists

McRun...whats the girls side look like?

Plenty of individuals in the mix FTW...Green of St Johns (S) as the fav?

Looks like no Franklin Park for EMASS...everyone will now have to embrace Wrentham

MSTCA announced they will be hosting invites: at Night in Barnstable, at Northfield, and 2 invites in Wrentham

Other big invites for teams? No CMI because of the renovation at FP

D1 wide open? Looks to me like Lowell should be the favorite with the way their athletes are performing this spring and with youngsters like Johnny A on the way back.

I would agree - other than Green and Bennie running for the "gold" - I do not see any Central MA teams in the mix at all this year!

Maybe Northampton and Westfield can utilize some "homecooking" to make some noise!

Shrewsbury HS from CMASS will be a highly ranked team.

You are correct deweyxc - they will be the top team in Central MA this year - my comment above was not to "discredit" them at all - it was meant to make the point that I do not see them finishing in the top three at D1 AS.

I definitely think they have a shot at top 3 which puts them in the hunt to win. Williams, Wentworth, Mortimor and their frosh from last year make a great group. This team has really benifited from Rocky Mountain XC camp.

The battle between BF and Pembroke should be one for the ages with BF bringing back a good chunk of their 2011 State Champs Team. but don't sleep on Hopedale (07 State Champs) they are on their way back. The real Sleeper is Seekonk...Take a look at some of their results from each MSTCA freshman invite this past xc season...they look like they might have the State Champs team of the future.

excited already!

Any new info on whether Franklin Park will be unavailable for EMass this year? Has a definite decision been made?

A definite decision was made when I first posted Franklin Park would be unavailable. The course will be closed from August of this year to next.

MIAA XC/ T&F Committee met on Friday and the plan is to have all EMASS races at Wrentham this year on one day. Before the closure of FP the plan was to be rotating divisions between 2 sites FP & Wrentham. If things go well at Wrentham this year perhaps it will just become the permanent home fo all divisions.
