I don't see a great upside in this one for LV. It is on a very slow street 3-lap to the mile course and he can't accept any prize money if he wins or places. The experience he gets is not directly transferable to running on a track. It would be different if it was a straight line course and he could break 4 again and get the track sub-4 hype going, but it was won in 4:09 high and 4:11 the last two years.
But on the other hand it is a free trip and he gets to see the Boston Marathon. http://www.baa.org/~/media/Files/BAA...urse%20Map.pdf

It is, but the Drake Mile would in my opinion be a better option just a week later. Probably the 5K at Drake or Penn would be his best current opportunity given his 8K fitness. Ritz ran the 5K at Penn his senior year.

Given his PR coming in you wouldn't have thought he would be close to a 3:49 miler in a race that would be won in 4:16.7, but he was. His kick is a bit better than I thought. I have to say that he really does have a shot at sub-4 and I didn't believe he did until now. He beat two sub-4 guys and gave the 3:49 guy a scare.
LV defies expectations. One week he beats everybody but the 27:20 10K guy and the next he beats everybody but the 3:49 miler. By the way here is Lukas' quote on his Twitter: LukasVerzbicas Lukas Verzbicas The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible. -Arthur C. Clarke
