Why not just argue your point of view, if you want to post on this thread?

The point of arguing is to win. I define "winning" an argument by me convincing the other person(s) that they are wrong and I am right. I don't see me "winning" an argument on this thread.
My point of view about President Obama means nothing (really, it doesn't, and neither does your's - sorry). I think the battle for politics is won and lost by the group who pro-creates the most, not by arguing logic. It's become far too emotional a subject to win with logic. It's really not even fun to talk about. I do find it interesting, however, how some (you) define success. Listen, if you fail you fail. It's not the end of the world. It's just better to say "I overestimated my abilities" then to say "it could be worse". For what it's worth I enjoy reading what you write, for the most part. The lines to read through are plentiful. |

I define me "winning" an argument when the other person stops posting because I'm making them look more an more foolish with their argument
Good point on who pro-creates the most. There are intelligent voters out there. Sadly, I think there are far more ignorant voters. We have two convicted felons (one on coke charges) who were put away, while in office, get out of jail year's later, and get voted right back in. I'm sure you can figure out how well run this area is from there

Failure is a pretty relative thing, depending on the criteria you use to define success. Because I teach English I see a range of things that indicate success (essay development, use of support, sentence structure, diction, and so on) and not much that indicates abject failure. Very little is black and white.
"Winning" arguments seems beside the point, to me. You're correct that you're unlikely to change my vote. However, your perspective is valuable to me nonetheless because it helps one to clarify what I think--which is often the purpose of writing. I'd far rather read what I disagree with than what I agree with, both in the classroom and here. |
