You have guys in the prelims that could really make others work if they are searching for the "A"

Finals would most likely NOT be where that happened.

I left out Brown only because he really hasn't been a big time performer until recently.

I guess you could say the same for Torrence, but I gave Torrence a mention because his range is so great, I figure at least he's got the wheel to kick. I'm not so sure about Brown - I've watched him get lit up too many times in big meets.

But yeah, toss him in there.

After that, I think Robby should beat everyone else. In a kickers race, however, I wouldn't chance it. As I mentioned above, when you have 8 guys together off a relatively slow pace, I can see Andrews beating anyone of the guys listed. Whether he can beat better than 5 of those guys is they key. And ditto for anyone else in the race - beating any one particular guy, or two guys may not be that hard. Beating 5 or 6? Low odds.

But that is the usual story right?

Certainly even some very good guys cannot think THEIR best chance of beating Andrews, would be waiting him out, but that is what will happen probably

It seems especially today guys refuse to or just will not execute a plan of any kind

It is "hope someone goes honest" and wait, or "don't care if they walk it out" and wait

No one seems to execute the drive harder from 500M and out, save mayve Centro that one time, where he controilled race well. Leo in NCAAs etc

Like I said, folks better practice their leaning...these prelims and semis , should be electric at least from the drama perspective

That takes a ton out of you as well, if, he does not position himself well in the 1500 rounds, sometimes you run out of track to get there

Like you said, I see at least two known guys running just about as hard as they can in the prelim, let alone the semi

Some folks that want to cruise into next rounds will not have that luxury, I do not think? I could be way off.
Don't disagree at all. Hopefully we will hear about the thought process at some point. I still think he makes the team, I just think the 1500 can be a tough road, and the final can be either ridiculously slow (read crowded in the stretch like you alluded to) or ridiculously fast, and in the 800 maybe by now a lot of guys don't believe they can beat Robbie, whereas the 1500 has many potential suitors who have been running this race their entire career and know the race is wide open.

It is a tough calculus to do - and a huge risk in pushing a pace. And pretty much you can't do it early, unless you are so much better than everyone else.

And in the US, you don't have that one guy who is clearly superior to everyone else. Pushing the pace early pretty much ensures you won't win.

I think Andrews does change the dynamic a little bit in that guys will be planning to move earlier than they would before. Certainly a huge finish by him won't be a surprise to anyone in the races.

I can see some of the stronger guys, Centro and wheating, pushing from a bit further out. Especially if they are working together. That's the one thing that may hurt andrews the most - he's not really going to have a "teammate" in the final, unless Webb makes it through, and if that's the case, I'm not sure thats the teammate I want helping out.

I don't expect Manzano to do anything until the last 200, as usual. Maybe one of those other guys, Torrence or Brown, or Acosta, or See would make a move, but doubtful - their best chance is still to try in pick off guys who are left in the destruction up front.

You're right, kinger, it will be great drama.

Looks like TV time is very limited. Any idea what distance events we'll see on TV?

Will it be streaming online?

It's on NBCSN from 9:00 - 11:00 PM. Hopefully they'll show something more than the fuzzy, up close and personal stories about the women's 100 competitors. 100 trials are tonight too.

No hope of seeing or hearing anything onthe 10,000s.

Ajee has a tough heat; none of them are easy but she has some tough runners in that race.

From ESPN

* Ajee Wilson (Neptune, HS, Neptune, N.J.), 800 Meters; FIRST ROUND FRIDAY, JUNE 22
How she got here:
The senior from New Jersey seemed like she was stuck on 2:05 in April and May and she knew that wasn't going to cut it. But when she ran 2:02.61 at the adidas Grand Prix in New York City on June 9, she sealed the deal and made the cut.
What she can do: Wilson has much more big-meet experience (meaning vs. pros) than either of her high school counterparts, and that could be a difference-maker for her. The field is so deep between 2:00 and 2:03 that there are bound to be some surprises and Wilson advancing past the first round could be one of them.
