As Stogs said, it's an indication of potential. With that in mind, watch out for the Navin kid from Saratoga. Out of nowhere he starts busting out 1:55 800s this Spring as a soph. Similar to what Delago did 2 years ago.
That is a good point. And a 1:55 for a soph is very good. And Saratoga will also be another team. I looked at at who Saratoa is returning and they appear to be a strong squad. I looked back at th Queensbury invite from last year. That was an early season match between Shaker, Arlington and Saratoga. I mainly looked at who those three teams are returning this year. Shaker Is only returning their #5 and 6 runners from last year so they might need to do some rebuilding. Arlington returns 5 runners runner and have strong jv runners who will fill in nicely. Saratoga returns 4 including Jay Navin. They also have 3 strong jv runners. I found this article on milesplit and and I recommend checking it out. It ranks the top jv runners in the state, so it shows what teams could potentially be strong next year.

Shouldn't we analyze 3200 times as opposed to 1600 times to perhaps gauge what MIGHT happen in XC 2012? Key word might.

I agree, but 16 or 32, Northports guys are still 5 men strong. As the distance goes up they're still right there

How did those 5 Northport kids do last year in XC cause that can help prove if they are better track runners or cross country runners.

Alex Kramer- 163

nobody on this list is graduating (as far as tullyrunners says..)

oh and these are their highest speed ratings.. the state uses an average rating for rankings for the state meet, but these are "PR's" for ratings

Well, only one of them made it to the state meet last year (McGowan)... but based on their track performances, several have stepped up a lot since last year - Dickinson, Branigan, etc. I can see why there may be justifiably high expectations for this Fall.

FM 2003 top returners for 2004:
181
175
169
165

(2004 FM ran 16:15 ave. at Feds for 190 SR average)
