rereading the past posts, it does seem like we making fun of pat, but i know that wasn't my intention, and i doubt it was other peoples'. once again its clear how easily tone and meaning can be confused in writing...sorry for that! im sure no one meant to say anything negative about any other runners. i know i am definitely looking forward to what pat (and all of sb for that matter) can do this season - those results you posted look very promising. did malcolm decide to sit this one out to make sure he recovered enough?

I know i did Clarence Demar a couple of times when i was in high school but i think that tradition died with the class of '08, specifically Matt Davide and Chris Elliot.

I've done the Stowe 8-miler once and in my opinion its a little too far for high school kids who peak at 50 miles a week. However, I could see it being a good tester for some higher mileage kids.

Hey Jacob. I don't think that anyone was trying to make fun of Pat or any other runners in VT, but it's a good reminder that while only a few people post, many people do read this thread. And like you said, these things can take on a life of their own and be taken out of context. I appreciate that acknowledgement.

How is your training going as you get ready to make the jump next year? It will be a long, LONG time before anyone forgets that 1500 at States this year. It was a beautiful thing for both you and Mr. Copley!

@smaguire - it looks like we'll have a small SB contingent at the Stowe 8-miler this year, anywhere from 3-6 athletes plus myself. Then we're getting into a couple of Catamount races before heading off to camp in late August. (I hear the Catamount trails are gnarly this year...!)

Seeing as I am probably the most responsible for the posts of this nature, I figure I might as well explain for those that don't know.

I know next to nothing about Vermont XC (MMU sweep at states this year?). I am not from Vermont, and do not follow results very carefully. Fairly regularly, I look through results from past seasons and pick out random names, explain how I have inside knowledge of their unbelievably good training, and make a "darkhorse" pick for them to win states or place very high. I assumed nothing that I posted was ever regarded seriously by the regular posters on the Vermont threads, but I was forgetting those who do not know me and just read the boards from time to time. If any of my posts were misinterpreted, I apologize. Just doing my best to get some discussion going

FISH EDIT:

Regarding racing strategy, let's not forget Plunkett and Grosvenor share the same coach so should make things interesting when they go head to head this fall. Won't be a question of who has the best race tactics.

Actually, during the fall Daniel and I will have different coaches. I'll be running for the South Burlington team (Geoffe Bennett will be my coach). I'm not sure about Daniel's coaching set up with Montpelier but we definitely won't be sharing the same coach (or the same division for that matter). We DO have the same summer coach.

Just looked at the VT thread from 2010 and came to a startling conclusion. Teddy is never serious... ever

Beat me to it. I'm assuming that this wasn't all out for the two of them, although it was very humid today.
