Jonathan Gardner (Whitney Young) qualified for nationals in triple jump. He was a two time state champ in 3A, and jumped 51'6 in mid May. Great to see him doing well

Lukas won his first pro triathlon over an olympic qualifier. More importantly, Kevin McDowell got 5th in his first big triathlon after overcoming his Hodgkin's lymphoma, so that's pretty cool.

Chris Derrick's collegiate career is very similar to Kevin Havel's high school career. Continually getting better but an all time great beats him every year. For Havel it was the York trio, Craven/Finley, Jager and then Derrick. For Derrick it was Rupp, Chalenga twice, Lalang, and Levins. Havel finally got one when CD went down with mono in track.

Here's to hoping he snags the Olympic birth and gets some big wins on the national stage throughout his career because he's definitely fun to root for.
