Hope your habit of assuming everyone else is not as smart as you fades someday. Use your brain, the Olympics are an outdoor event, why would indoor standards apply?

From the USATF US Olympic Trials qualifying standards page: (I am presuming USATF and Olympics rules are the same, when there is a possibility they are not. Still looking for the Olympics rules.)

2012 USOT - QUALIFYING GUIDELINES:
  1. All qualifying performances for the U.S. Olympic Trials must be attained on a standard outdoor track in the period Sunday, May 1, 2011 through Sunday, June 17, 2012, or on an indoor track, in the same event, in the period Sunday, January 1, 2012 through Sunday, June 17, 2012; except for the 10,000 meters, Decathlon & Heptathlon and 20km Race Walks, whose qualifying period is from Sunday, January 1, 2011 through Sunday, June 17, 2012. The qualifying performance for the men’s 50km Race Walk must be attained in the period Sunday January 1, 2010 through Sunday, January 7, 2012.

Nothing about an oversized indoor track being unacceptable - from the wording, any indoor track would do.

More circumstantial info:
IAAF Competition Rules (2009)
http://www.iaaf.org/mm/Document/Comp...inted_8986.pdf
RULE 160
Track Measurements
1. The length of a standard running track shall be 400m. It shall consist of two parallel straights and two bends whose radii shall be equal.
Rule 260
World Records (Not the same as competition rules, but might give a clue)
(a) The Record shall be made in an athletics facility, which conforms to Rule 140 with or without roof. The construction of the track or runway used shall comply with the specifications in the IAAF Track and Field Facilities Manual.
(b) For any Record at any distance of 200m or more to be recognised, the track on which it was made shall not exceed 402.3m (440 yards) and the race shall have started on some part of the perimeter. This limitation does not apply to the Steeplechase events where the Water Jump is placed outside a normal 400m track.

Im not always right, but in this case i am and let me break it down for you how i am and you are not. First allow me to quote the post that you initially made citing Chonka's link that i replied to:

http://www.iaaf.org/mm/Document/Stat...2010_23249.pdf

I think, but didn't research, oversize tracks refers to any tracks over 400m, and does not disqualify indoor tracks over 200m.
That paragraph is clearly referring to indoor tracks only, there is nothing mentioned whatsoever about outdoor tracks in that paragraph. Basic reading comprehension means that if something is not referred to, in all likelihood it is not applicable to that rule.

Now allow me to quote a different section from the link you yourself provided in your last post.

Quote:

So had you continued reading, you could have answered your own question.

For the record, i do not believe indoor marks should be permitted for outdoor qualification regardless of the length of the track, but they are as long as they are on a track that is 200m or less.

As an added bonus, i dug up the 2008 standards that i was forwarded in a PM and subsequently posted on the elite board where a mini-discussion broke out on a similar topic. I dont know if they have modified these for 2012, but i would think they would be similar.

Quote:
Qualifying Guidelines

1. Performances must be achieved during the qualification period of January 1, 2007 (September 1, 2006 for marathon events, combined events and race walking events) to July 6, 2008.
2. All performances must be achieved during competitions organized or authorized by the IAAF, its Area Associations and its National Member Federations.
3. Results achieved at university or school competitions must be certified by the National Federation of the country in which the competition was organized.
4. Performances achieved in mixed events between male and female participants, held completely in the stadium, will not be accepted (see IAAF Rule 147).
5. Wind-assisted performances will not be accepted.
6. Hand timing performances in 100m, 200m, 400m, 110m/100m Hurdles and 400m Hurdles will not be accepted.
7. Indoor performances will be accepted.
8. A list of qualifying competitions for the Marathons, the Relays and Race Walking Events, which meet with the IAAF’s qualifying criteria, will be produced and approved by the IAAF by February 1, 2007 for the 2007 events and February 1, 2008 for the 2008 events.
9. Ages:
For the Marathon races and Men’s 50 km Race Walk, senior athletes only (any athlete aged 20 years and over on December 31, 2008) will be accepted.
Junior athletes (any athlete aged 18 or 19 years on December 31, 2008) may compete in any event except the Marathon races and the 50 km Race Walk.
Youth athletes (any athlete aged 16 or 17 years on December 31, 2008) may compete in any event except the Throws, Decathlon, 10,000m, Marathon and Race Walks.
Athletes younger than 16 years of age on December 31, 2008 CANNOT be entered in any event.
