Conference Meets

The Dairyland and Classic Eight Conference meets will start the conference outdoor craze tomorrow. I'll try to link the results as they come in (from whatever source). Let's use this thread to post heat sheets, discuss big showdowns/rivalries and comment on the top times.

Should be interesting in the 800m at the Classic Eight meet. Woodford, Sandvold, Bierman and 12 other guys seeded at 2:02 or better.

Here are the heat sheets

The SWAL meet (May 15th at Cuba City) could see a handful of conference records fall on the boys side.

Wilkerson from Southwestern has a shot at the 200 (22.86).
Miehe in the 1600 (4:28.5) and 3200 (9:55.67).
Boscobel in the 4x2 (1:33.37) and 4x4 (3:30.47).
Darlington in the 4x8 (8:24.4).

The 1600 record has stood for over twenty years and will be the hardest of those five to break. I'm pretty sure Jason Wilkinson from Boscobel ran it in the late 80s. Wilkinson and Miehe have the two fastest D3 times ever posted at State Cross Country at 16:02.

Does Darlington have enough depth to get the conference record in the 4x800 without the younger Miehe running on it? From what I have seen, I think the 1600 and 3200 are within his reach, but if he also has to run a solid leg on their 4x8 - it will certainly make getting the records more challenging. I think the weather may also be a factor...potential 80s next week!

I think that they will put together the 4x8 to go for that record. Tyson will probably only do the 4x8 and 3200 here, his brother (or someone else from Darlington) has a shot to win the 1600, and Tyson will win the 3200 (possibly breaking his own conference record).

The only other distance runner in the conference that could stir things up is Mindham from Boscobel (at least that I know of), he has some decent times this year as well. If Tyson doesn't do the 1600, then it will be a good race between him and a couple of Darlington kids going for that conference championship.

Classic 8 results. http://www.wi-track.com/Classic8/051012-BoysResults.pdf

Sandvold looked great tonight. 1600m he pulled away from Bierman after they worked together for a while. The 800m Dugan took it out in 26.02 and everyone was fast from the gun and holding on. 2:01.5 gets 11th place.
Arrowhead got dq'ed in the 4x4 but ran 3:23.

Great double from Sandvold - 1:55.02/4:17.62, takes the yearly lead in both events! Bierman got knocked off by Cichacki again. Dubnicka 11:03, three Arrowhead girls basically tied for the 800m win. Lea Patek is turning out to be a great miler.

Things should get fast in the 1600 today with Saxton, Campbell, Escher and Christianson.
