Do you really think Wellesley is a legitimate contender this year? They seem to have drastically fallen off the map since the 2008 Volkman, Littlefield, Krieg team that took first at Emass.

Default 2012 Central MA Boy's XC Overview

So after looking closer at last year’s results and efforts from indoor and outdoor, I am ready to provide everyone with an overview of Central MA (D1) XC – hope to have a closer look at D2 in the future, but it looks to be a 2 man race there with Hopedale & Whitinsville Christian.

Some initial observations/predictions:
  • - This could be one of the closest years in memory between the top 4 teams (Shrewsbury, SJS, Wachusett and Nashoba) – with one of them not getting to go to AS’s!
  • - Shrewsbury & Nashoba both have 5 runners back from last year’s AS teams – a great way to start the year.
  • - Wachusett will have Brian Cusak back from an injury that kept him from running XC last year and based on his indoor/outdoor efforts should be a “solid” # 2 runner for them.
  • - Although you can’t count on Freshman – Wachusett does have two coming in (James Route & Grant Hauver) who could help make them the deepest team and one of them could contribute come November.
  • - SJS (by far) has the strongest top three (Green/Crowley/Murphy) in Central MA (maybe the state?) – but does not have a clear 4th and 5th man – so they are somewhat of a mystery right now .
My individual predictions for Central MA Championships to follow once I can get them in a readable format!

Enjoy!

Shrewsbury (63)

Wachusett (69)

SJS (71)

Nashoba (77)

great job with this!

my report also has those 4 teams as being real close but i did not have that insight about wachusett, that might be enough to put them over the top. Those 4 teams will surely have a high ranking to start the year, it will be interesting to watch how it unfolds

Algonquin could be a minor sleeper, returning 6 of 7, but even with that, i still cant see them cracking the top-4

Wyman had an amazing spring - but still would need to put Stafford (15:56 @ AS) and Valeri (16:21 @ AS) ahead of him (16:39 @ AS) in XC, at least right now. Also - Croteau from Westfield (16:32 @ AS) & Owen Gonser KP 16:39 might warrant some notice.

Quite Right
Stafford/Valeri should be in that group, fixed
