We just aren't seeing anything remotely close to what you are talking about, "MOST" fast kids run track. They don't play baseball/basketball/soccer whatever. If you think they do you are as wrong as wrong gets. But if you have some need to believe that, cool. |

How about a guy who can break down ever stud sprinter currently running HS track? Knows every sprinter on NCAA rosters and in the current NFL, how about that guy?

I really don't think there are a ton of stud sprinters choosing football over track.
E.g. 2x WJ silver + WJ gold Aaron Ernest chose running track at LSU over track+football elsewhere.

Fast little kid, he's winning everything locally. He has all those ribbons and medals and praise for being the fast guy, he's going to dump that for..... He knows he can run early on, basseball/soccer/basketball/football take time. Yes a lot of sprinters play football, but a lot more don't. Much less give up..."you sure are fast!"...to be just another baseballer/basketballer/soccer-ite. |

It was also one of the selling points for X. Carter signing at LSU. He had to get Saban down to the brass tacks to allow him to run track also. (Saban hates letting guys run track, see B. Sylve at Bama.) Guys who are good at track, for the most part, want to continue in college: Goodwin, Bennett, Demps, Ford, Bracy, and on and on

It really is a status thing, a big deal to be that fast guy. Not everyone can hit a fast ball, most sprinters are not 6-4 or taller for B-Ball. Soccer???? For every track guys who gets into footbal 10 stay with track. Last edited by Avante : 07-23-2012 at 02:57 AM. |

From your first post: "What is going on with Ameican sprinting, no it's not football." From your second post: "The point is that we no longer rule the sprint scene and haven't for awhile now and it bugs me. We don't even rule the NCAA as we are seeing. TCU holds the NCAA 4x1 record, three foreign sprinters on that team. What happened?" Cultural thing like soul/ blues/ jazz? Hmmmm. |

There are 9 pages of people trying to help each other understand what happened. Some just choose not to listen
