It was a perfect night to race. With the Foundation DJs playing and a loyal crowd of "whose who" of track fans ringing lane 6; a field of gunslingers went at it. They went through the 400 in 57 the 800 in 1 58 the 1200 at 3 :03 and the end result: Chris Spooner 4:04.08 fastest mile in Suffolk County history Kevin Tschirhart 4:05.18 Michael Hendry 4:09.27 Quinn Rasemon 4:13.30 ( great job by Quinn who chased the whole way) The next attempt at breaking 4 minutes will be Wednesday July 14th at Hauppauge High School. Dont miss a chance to support Long Island Track |

Isn't Hauppauge a real windy track? From what I've heard it's normally very windy there. Purely speculation though.

I don't see why an attempt isn't made on White plain's high quality track. it may not be suffolk county but it is certainly a fast fast track.

the organizers are all from long island so it would be quite a trek to go all the way up to Westchester for one big race. st. Anthony's is comparable to white plains anyway.

Edit: also, is anyone else in the next attempt? thats a great PR for spooner but he runs about 2:59 for 1200 so the idea of adding on another 409 meters at the same pace seems far-fetched even with paces. Last edited by Tinmanrunner : 07-07-2010 at 12:24 PM. |
