Mid calf socks are fine, but I think knee highs look plain stupid.

You have no rationale behind wearing high socks, idc how good you are. They look stupid.. Unless you're doing it as a joke and to be made fun of.. especially if you're an 800m-up guy (or girl), high socks are not okay.

wow you guys are awfully judgmental. i've never worn high socks, but they look pretty good on some people. i also think it's better to have some variety in the sock department rather than EVERYONE in the race wearing boring old "no-shows."

I've always thought that it's okay for Long Jump and Triple Jump because it sort of prevents sand from getting in between your toes. Anything else, and you better be really fast so it looks cool when you run. Otherwise they are gay.

well my trainer told me it was because my calves were tight so i've been wearing them for about 2 weeks now and i havent had any problems

Compression socks are fine in my book. They might help you run, so it's all good. High socks? Not so much.
