This course would have suited me to a T!

Do you want to get invited? I suspect I could arrange.

Wayne, I would have gotten everything paid for if I'd done it this year (having the A standard). No worries, I'm sure I'll get to do it one of these years! Not afraid to run fast over hills. Since Patti ran 2:29 at NYC 30 years ago, I'd love to hear her perspective on how she conquered it and her competitors (... I'm thinking the spitting blood had something to do with it!).
![]() Training is going well! Got in 121 miles last week and felt really good. Re-learning how to run fast and relaxed-- that was last weeks lesson! Just switched shoes.... weird how the feet evolve, but I'm feeling better trying out some other shoes (~Puma Road Racers and breaking in some Adidas Rockets). |

Jag, I guess the multiple shoe brands means no shoe contract yet.

No, our Team Indiana Elite women's group dissolved, so I'm "free" at the moment.

Got close to an "all clear" from the doctor yesterday. My fall, that resulted in a broken collarbone, was 10 weeks ago. I've been able to get some exercise in, but have been pretty cautious. I was alternating between 30 minutes on my bike (on a turbo trainer in the family room) and a 3 mile easy run. The doctor says it's now okay to start running more. Gee, and I'd kind of gotten used to my lazy schedule. Definitely need to work on the range of motion in the left shoulder and he gave me a pulley gadget for that. He also said I could do a little light lifting. So, guess the holiday is over and it's time to get back at it. Luckily (and a bit surprisingly) I didn't put on any weight, so at least I don't need to shed any excess.

That's great, Ruth!
Go slow and steady on the shoulder recovery. I had a bad shoulder injury a few years ago (suffered playing Tchoukball, I kid you not), and could barely raise my right hand above my waist in back. But I did several weeks of physical therapy, and it gradually came back. Almost better than new now. |
