Glad to hear the super kids are bouncing back from the loss of the bucks and you enjoyed your trip.
I had the pleasure of eating dinner with Ken & The Boys when they passed thru NYC on their trip to visit all the MLB ballparks. I am told Ken has some photographs from the visit-hint hint. See patti eats Subway just like Jared(why am I compelled to pronounce his name "Jarred"?) does... ergo... all Awesome Marathoners eat Subway Subs!

I didn't mention it while you were here, Patti, but Hidden Beach on the east side of Cedar Lake is the site of Mpls's once-upon-a-time nude beach, still has sort of a hippie/counterculture reputation lingering but mostly watered down by 'improvements' that have widened the narrow dirt trail you used to have squeeze through the foliage to get there, into a wide graveled trail the park police can drive through.
And just to make things clear, the hs xc state champs were a team champ rather than individual champ, and though the team did produce a couple individual state champs as well, none of those were at the table. Anyhow, the time frame possibilities for a get-together got real tight just before Aaron & Patti arrived as I learned I would be heading east Sunday afternoon for Illinois (still there now) for work, just 48 hours or so after the Dillon's arrival... and Friday evening was out of the question because the marathon driving effort from CT meant that sleep was the next order of business once the rabbits were checked in and all set up. So Saturday evening it was, and that had to be fairly late as Saturday prior to the convention business opening Sunday was BIG I understand, its the the day everybody is there finally and all of the buys, sales, trades, matings etc. get negotiated and arranged. But by 8PM or shortly after we were gathered at the dining room table of Patti's absentee hosts who live just a couple miles from the convention center and exchanged lodging for house-sitting to the benefit of all... if it weren't for the plumbing deciding it was a good time to plug up and make life that much more interesting for the Dillons in Mpls. Here in the Chicago suburbs I've been working long days and finally got a day off Sunday, much of that spent with my bro & sis-in-law in Mt. Prospect, where we watched the Vikes get clobbered by da Bears and I was treated to Ukrainian fare (Milo's wife Inna originally hails from Odessa on the Black Sea). A big bowl of homemade bortsch with a dollop of sour cream, and a side dish of a rice/mushroom concoction who's exact name has escaped my memory. But yes!- the Saturday evening pics, click at bottom to open larger view. left pic, gathered around the table is, beginning in front of the window with the main attraction of the 2010 ARBA National Convention, Mr. Aaron Dillon of ARD Rabbitry (wish you could have been along too, Raven!); next moving clockwise is our Patti of course, just a bit more than a day after the almost non-stop driving marathon (I understand one rabbit wouldn't even allow a short catnap, started thumping against the divider separating the cab and cargo hold of the van, that means "lets roll, this cage isn't getting any fresher!" in Loppish if my English-Lop dictionary is any good!); next is Mr. Chris Anderson, my younger son; then his older brother Dave Anderson; then Mr. Ryan Klingaman; and finally Ms. Jennifer who's last name I'm not privy to, she's in the same tech/engineering-focused MBA program as Dave. Not sure who the old guy is, who let him in anyway? ctr pic, same group only Jennifer is now the photographer taking the duty from Mr. David Lundberg, seated and clearly relishing the close contact with his roomies which he just can't seem to get enough of . The 4 young MN gents all cohabitate at Dave A.'s large townhouse in Chaska, a bachelor pad and housekeeping disaster of legendary proportion; they all are also current or recent (Lundy has retired from the game but is threatening a comeback) men's amateur league baseball players who commute long-distance to be Staples Lumberbats on summer weekends. Lundy did cabbie duty for the Dillons off the meter; Patti I hope that worked out to your satisfaction. Both Mr. L & Mr. K are single fathers with a cute little toddler daughter each, they have over some weekends, makes for an even livelier household there in Chaska. Aaron presented an opportunity for me to duck the camera here, but Patti solved that in the right pic.The convention was blessed with some very nice November weather reaching into the sixties, things definitely took a more wintery turn last weekend after you left as up to a foot of snow fell a couple days ago around the eastern half of the state. click any to open/enlarge. I clicked, and the pix opened. Unfortunately, they were exactly the same size as on my archaic cell phone. I couldn't see the without french-kissing the monitor...and last time I tried that, I got slapped. Do they exist bigger, and if so, can you post them a bit larger? Thx. Wayne

Hmm, lets see what I can do, strange but I can click on the photo thumbnail itself in my original post and it opens much larger, Wayne... but when I click on just the links as they appear in your quoted post, I get the same result you're reporting. When I view my post I see three thumbnail photos rather than hyperlinks at the bottom, but I take it everybody else just sees the links? Don't know why that is.
could be some trial & error before I get it right, but here goes: http://www.mediafire.com/i/?wr2bbyd3vs77tpl http://www.mediafire.com/i/?su98fhrf92x6vgm http://www.mediafire.com/i/?m5ym4d12mj8d6tl do these open larger for you? Last edited by KenA55 : 11-16-2010 at 06:45 PM. |

If you found Cedar Lake you did walk quite a way to get there... a couple miles to the west. On the other hand, if the lake you found was just 4 or 5 blocks from the convention center rather than the couple miles it would take to get to Cedar Lake, and quite small, then I believe you found Loring Lake in Loring Park. It sure was a pleasure to meet you & Aaron, Patti; wish I didn't have to leave town that same weekend. I'm glad I could help out with the bunnies and all of the other arrangements. I see Miss Othmar's back ;>)
And Jag -- 121 miles?! On various brands of shoes?! That is clearly old school. I say we pass the hat and sponsor Jag. I'll put in for two pairs of shoes and 3-pack of socks. |
