He ran 8:40i without pacers and Cheserek sitting on him the whole time. I'm not saying that it's a given, but with the field at Pre and if he goes out at a maintainable pace, he'll get it. We haven't seen him at all during the outdoor season so he has to be doing some great workouts.
I'm not even a Lukas fan whatsoever but to say that he doesn't impress you is just ridiculous. He's a nine time national champion and high school record holder. What the hell do you deem impressive?

I disagree. He thought that he was way over 3:59 and so he let off the gas to run later on. It wasnt until the final straight did he realize that he had a chance to break 4:00, then picked it up, but couldn't pick it up enough to go under. I watched his interview after that race. Also, German also went ahead to run 8:34 in the same meet
High school record holder in......? Class record? Sure that's cool and all, but unless you have THE record, this argument holds little water. But, I will say 9 time National Champion, is very damn impressive. I will say he is much, much smarter now racing than in the past. He has had a history of getting overamped, which is something that has seemed to change within the past year.
