Head flop finally caught up with King. Anyone know if Driggs' late seaon injury affected his training schedule enough to cost him a shot at matching or beating last year's time?

Matt Hall ( Illiana Christian) - All State in Xc (22nd), so he is a good runner. Won the 3200 at Sectionals, running just to win. Took 2nd in the 1600 at Sectionals, basically pacing his freshman teammate for the win and then settling back on the last lap. He opts out of both of them at state to run the 4 x 800, which takes 11th place. I can see running the 3200 and qualifying to see where you might be, but then running and taking 2nd in the 1600, knowing you aren't going to run it at state made it tough to see. I know it's the runner's responsibility ro either hit the time or place, but if you are just taking spots for the sake of taking them, that's not very sportmanlike. Just my 2 cents. |
